Our worldwide

A global network of educated Afghan girls

Our international reach

Our students span the globe, and more join us every day

We educate the girls who’ll change the world.

SOLAx immediately improves the lives of Afghan girls by allowing them to progress in their education despite the Taliban’s ban on secondary schooling. The World Bank estimates that limited educational opportunities for women cost countries as much as $30 trillion USD in lost lifetime productivity and earnings; additional studies conclusively demonstrate that educated women bear fewer and healthier children and are significantly more active in the political sphere.

SOLAx will allow our students to grow into women who live healthier lives, earn higher wages, and who have a voice in their communities, and we intend to scale our program quickly: from 10,000 students in our first year to more than 500,000 students in our third year.

The Demand For SOLAx

We know the depth of the demand for the hope that SOLAx offers. At SOLA, we watched applications for enrollment at our Rwanda campus grow exponentially from 2021 to 2022: from nearly 200 applicants to nearly 2,000. All these applicants competed for just 25 spaces in our 6th grade class.

SOLA cannot meet this demand on a physical campus. But with SOLAx, we can – and we will.

Our curriculum is designed to challenge not only our students, but also the traditional notion of education in Afghanistan where the national curriculum has long been built around the principles of memorization and rote learning. With SOLAx, we teach critical thinking skills paired with a focus on Afghan culture, Islamic history, and global languages, all with the goal of helping create a global network of educated Afghan girls: the girls who’ll become the women leaders ready to heal the damage done to their homeland.
